A long time ago, I built a custom bicycle for my wife. The frame was painted green and it didn’t have any logos or writing on it, so it looked pretty sad. My wife’s name is Deanna, but everyone calls her Dede (that’s dee-dee). I thought writing “for Dede” in big letters on the bike frame would look kinda dorky, and besides, then everybody would know who the rider was and she might not like that. So because I also like riddles and rebuses, I decided to name it 4DEX2 (for ‘De’ times two) – for Dede. The stickers I had made looked nice and since I had a bunch of them, I started to put them on everything that I didn’t want to get stolen or taken – guitar cases, guitar stands, bike pumps – you name it. I then decided to use the logo for anything I’d build in the future.
